All our training instructors are registered RTITB instructors, ensuring our forklift counterbalance training courses are delivered to the highest standard. Using the latest training techniques and keeping up to date with the latest regulations and legislation, making our training courses as effective as possible.
COURSE TYPES
There are 4 types of forklift counterbalance training courses to choose from.
Forklift training duration changes depending on the number of operators on the course.
. NOVICE – Duration 3 – 4 days. Required for someone with no operating experience. Maximum 3 trainees per course.
. REFRESHER – Duration 1 day. Required every 3-5 years, after completing a novice course. Maximum 3 trainees per course.
. EXPERIENCED – Duration 2-3-4 days. For an operator with at least 6 months operating experience. That has not completed an official forklift training course.
. CONVERSION – Duration 1 day. For an operator that has been trained on a type of forklift that want to learn a different type of forklift. For example, once trained on a counterbalance forklift you can convert to a reach truck by completing a 1-day conversion course.
COURSE CONTENT
A counterbalance training course is broken down into 3 main sections.
The first is theory, covering the introduction, regulations, and legislation, HASWA PUWER LOLER, COSHH and the approved code of practice for rider operated lift trucks L117.
The second part of the counterbalance course covers practical training. Covering the introduction to the machine including controls and instruments, safe use of hydraulic controls. Moving parking and steering the forklift. Pre-use inspection and refueling truck, load stability, load assessment, handling empty pallets, handling palletised loads, handling different loads, vertical face, and undercutting. Stacking, turning in a narrow aisle, industrial racking, negotiating inclines, bulk stacking and vehicle loading and unloading.
Finally, the third part of the counterbalance training course is testing. The 3 tests are pre-use check test, theory test and practical test.
