Reach Truck Training FAQs
What is the difference between a reach truck and a counterbalance truck?
A reach truck is a type of lift truck used mainly for stacking pallets in tight spaces and narrow aisles. It has an extendable mast and forks that can reach out to pick up and place items, allowing the operator to access areas that a standard counterbalance truck cannot. A counterbalance truck, on the other hand, is a standard lift truck used mainly for lifting and moving pallets and other large items. It utilizes a counterbalance weight to balance the load, allowing the operator to lift and move heavy items without straining.
What are the advantages of a reach truck?
-Increased maneuverability in tight spaces and narrow aisles
-Increased load capacity
-Reduced risk of damage to goods
-Greater speed and efficiency
-Increased safety for operators due to the ability to reach out and pick up items from a distance
Is a reach truck difficult to operate?
No, reach trucks are not difficult to operate, although it does take some time to become familiar with the controls, and to learn the best practices for safely and efficiently operating the truck.
What is a reach truck conversion training course?
A reach truck training course is designed to help operators transition from a standard counterbalance truck to a reach truck. The course covers the basics of operation, safety, and best practices for using the reach truck, and is typically completed in a classroom setting. Both theory and practical training is required.
